Lynne Cheney was just on the Daily Show.

I thought she was delightful.

I am going to go bang my head against a wall until the world makes sense again.

(To be fair, I think I've always liked Dick Cheney a little bit more than Bush. I can take hawkishness, I can take business-friendly republicanism, and I can take social conservatism*...but I can't take any more than two of those in the same man)

(Also, Jon Stewart kicked ass at both keeping the exchange pleasant and calling Lynne Cheney on a claim that just didn't hold water. She claimed that the fact that the U.S. hasn't had another attack since 9-11 was proof that the Bush administration's strategy was working. Jon pointed out that the first time the World Trade Center was bombed in 1993, there also wasn't another attack for 8 years...but Lynne pointed out the attack on the USS Cole in 2000 while it was stationed in Yemen (17 killed), and of U.S. embassies in Africa in 1998 (~12 Americans killed, lots more Africans) Ok...good point...but if we're counting stuff that happens overseas, don't all the attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan count too? Anyways, that's the point that Jon made...gently, not forcing Lynne to concede or anything, but I don't think anybody watching it could have missed it. So Jon got to make his point and Lynne got to make her husband seem a little more human just for being married to someone who doesn't make me spew venom just listening to her talk the way Laura Bush does. Points all around? Also, she brought a Darth Vader doll as a joke. Major points for that.)

*by take, I mean respect as a different world view...not vote for.
